The story map we created can be found in our resources section on the EYFS page. There is also a link to the home learning pack in the internet resource section.

The task today is to learn the story and create your own 'Mouse' character by either painting, drawing or using collage materials. Remember Mouse is described as orange and soft, with a fluffy long tail.

Hello to all of our wonderful families and a Happy New Year to you all.

We hope you find these recordings of our daily lessons useful and

enable your child  to take part in the tasks even if you can't make it to our live sessions.

If you would like any further help, don't forget to email me and I will get back to as soon as I can.

News writing 6.1.21

Still image for this video
A brief introduction to our weekly news writing session.

In class we would have alphabet charts and word cards for children to use if they are ready for them. so if you have them at home please let your child use them.
As you can see from the introduction we always allow the children to give us the letters, even if they are not quite right. Once we have a word we go back over it explaining any mistakes.

As many of your children are still in the very early stages of writing they will ask for you to spell the words for them. Please do not be tempted as the children are learning that making mistakes is the way we learn and it is by making mistakes that we learn. As those of you who joined in the session this morning saw, we always praise the children and never tell them they are wrong or cannot do it. Although a tricky session, we also want them to enjoy writing. So good luck and don't forget to upload it to our learning platform afterwards.

If a writing a sentence is proving too much, them ask them to just write one word. This could be the name of the object they have talked about, their pet or a friends name. If your child can only identify the initial phoneme in words, this is also OK. Once they have read back what they have written you can scribe it underneath and point out the correct letters they have and any they missed out.
We look forward to reading them later.

At the end we will practise writing some key words and then I will explain this afternoon's task.

Spelling session . Friday 8.1.21

Still image for this video
At this time of year we normally start to ask children to have a go at writing key words so we can see which ones they need to work on. As some of you already know we do send 3 spellings home for them to begin learning. Although during the autumn term we do not test them in class, this term although we don't call it a test, as it is very informal we would ask those children who have been having spellings to show us what they know.

Please remember grown ups that we are asking the children to complete this unaided. In class we would have no alphabet charts or adult support except for reassuring them that whatever they write is good.

The video explains more.
Please have a go, even if you don't manage all of the words and upload it to Seesaw.

Week 4

Week beginning 25.1.21

News writing 25.1.21

For this task you will need your writing book, alphabet chart pens and pencils.

Remember how  we write in class? If you are unsure follow these simple instructions:

  1. Decide what you would like to write about. It can be anything you like.
  2. Say each word to yourself, listen carefully to what you hear and write down the letters you think you need:
    1. Remember you might not hear all of the letters, just write what you can hear
    2. If you can only hear the initial (first) letter, then that is OK.
    3. Try to hear more than one, there maybe digraphs, trigraphs and split digraphs. Have a go but remember you may not identify the correct letters needed just yet. But that is OK.
  3. Once you have written your sentence then read it back to yourself to check you are happy with it.
  4. Draw a picture to match the writing.
  5. Don't forget to ask your grown up to scribe after you have written so your teachers understand.

If you want more help, take a look at the news writing sessions we have recorded before, and have a go at spelling the words on there as a practise.

Don't forget to upload your work so we can see how well you are doing.

Maths Combining groups.

Still image for this video
You will need a simple Tens frame, either drawn or I have uploaded a simple Tens frame in our resources folder alongside the picture shown in the video for you to use if required.
You will also need 20 small objects, 10 in red (or other colour) and 10 in another colour. Don't worry you will only be working with numbers up to 10.
Don't forget to upload your own picture and working out so we can see how you are doing.

Little Peter Rabbit

Still image for this video
For this session you will need a blank piece of paper, crayons, a pen if you take up the challenge to write the new verse and your voice.

After you have joined in with me to sing the rhyme with the actions, we will learn the next verse.
The task, today is to make up a new verse of the song. You will need to think where else might the fly land on Peter?
Once you have decided then draw a picture of Peter Rabbit with a fly on his nose, his paw and wherever you decided it would land. Then record yourself either singing or saying your new verse with the actions and upload it.
If you are 'up for a challenge' then can you write out your new verse alongside your picture?

Activity plan with resources required.

Phonics 4.2.21

Still image for this video
Today we will again dip into different phonemes, digraphs, trigraphs , sight words and have a go at reading some sentences.
Remember to pause the video to allow you time to say the phoneme and the letter name. You will also need to pause it so you can try to read the sentences.

Handwriting 4.2.21

Still image for this video
Today we are recapping the letters 'a,d,g,q'.

Be careful when you form then as they start off with in a clockwise direction, but then return anti-clockwise.

The task is to write your first name without using your name card. If you cannot remember the letters needed, or how to form each letter correctly then use your name card to try again. If you can do it perfectly without your name card then try writing your surname. Remember to upload your work so we can take a look at it.

Handwriting

Still image for this video
We worked on the letters' f,j,e,s'

Little Peter Rabbit

Still image for this video
This time I have added two new verses from the ideas you uploaded yesterday.

Today's task, if you did not create your own verse yesterday then this is what you need to do today. If you did not upload a picture of Peter Rabbit with the fly upon his nose, paw and on your choice of body, then please finish this today.

Some of you have bravely recorded yourselves singing or saying the the rhyme, if you can do this that would be lovely to share. Some of you have also taken up the challenge to use your phonic knowledge to write your new verse. If you feel like a challenge then please do this.

If you have done all of these, then you can simply enjoy singing the new song.

Maths 4.2.21 Combining 2 groups

Still image for this video
For this session you will need either your own set of dominoes, or the dominoes sheet printed off the resource section of the website. See 'Maths resources'.

You are going to match the spots on two dominoes and create a matching domino frame.

Spellings 5.2.21

Still image for this video
You will need your pen and lined paper.

Put away your alphabet chart and any other resources as for this you need to remember the letters you need and how to form them.

Maths 5.2.21 Adding more.

Still image for this video
For this task you will need 2 dice so you can count the spots and a simple number track. You can download one from the website, or use the 1-12 on the number lines you have.

If you only have 1 dice, then roll it twice and add the spots together.
If you do not have a dice then you can use post it notes with spots 1-6 on. You will need two sets of these so you can take a card from each pile.
