About Us

Welcome to the next chapter of your child's life

...... their first steps into education.

About Us

We began as a Mother and Toddler group over 40 years ago, registering with Ofsted in 1992.  We were an independent committee run setting until September 2012 when the management of the pre-school was taken over by Leedon Lower School and our name changed from Brooklands Pre-school Playgroup to Leedon’s Little Learners.

Information

Children can start from 2 years of age, regardless of whether they are toilet trained or not, offering a minimum of 2 sessions per week.  Some children may be eligible for 2 year old funding from the term after their second birthday.

From the term after they are 3 years old, they are entitled to up to 15 hours of Government funding per week, subject to availability. Some 3 and 4 year old children of working parents may be eligible for up to 30 hours funding each week.  We may offer less than 30 hours depending on availability of sessions. Further information is available on the Government website www.childcarechoices.gov.uk.

We offer places in date of birth order in line with our admission policy.

We hold parent/carer consultations during the year and you are always welcome to come in and discuss your child’s progress at any time.

Clothing

The pre-school children wear a relaxed version of the school uniform:

  • White or blue polo shirts
  • Royal blue sweatshirt, jumper or cardigan (with or without the school logo)
  • Grey or black jogging bottoms, leggings trousers or skirts

Specific items of school uniform with the school logo are available to purchase from the school office.

Sensible shoes or trainers should be worn. Your child will also need a pair of named wellies at pre-school for wet outdoor play.  We have a number of waterproof trousers and jackets that the children can use.

Fees

From September 2023, our fees for 2 year olds will be £6.00 per hour.  Children who are 2 will be offered a 2 hour session for £12.00 or a 3 hour session for £18.00.

All session fees must be paid in full in the half term they are charged.

The term after your child turns 3 they are Government funded for up to 15 hours per week.  We offer morning, afternoon or all day sessions.  If you are interested in all day sessions, you can use your 15 funded hours per week and any additional hours would be charged at £4.50 per hour.  We accept all childcare vouchers.

Some 2 year old children may also be eligible for up to 15 hours of funding per week subject to certain criteria.  For more information contact the Central Bedfordshire Council Early Help Service on 0300 300 8585 or contact The Children’s Centre on 0300 300 8880.
