Why do we teach British Values?
Teaching British Values help our children prepare for a life in modern Britain as they grow older and leave school.
These values also form part of our responsibility for safeguarding children against extremism and radicalisation.
They were first introduced in 2014 by the Department for Education.
How do we teach British Values?
British Values are taught at Leedon through PSHE and RE lessons. They are also covered during whole school and class assemblies.
A number of aspects of the values are not taught specifically but are in place in our school, such as the need for democracy - where School Council representatives are elected fairly and are subject to a vote.
