Year Four Grafham Water 2018
Right so what have we done so far since we have been here?
We arrived yesterday and after a tour and finding the rooms the children unpacked and had lunch which was a variety of pasties and chips, which seemed to go down very well with all.
Yesterday afternoon all the groups had their first activity which was one of Cycling, High Ropes, Crate Stacking, Archery, Bushcraft and Powerboating. It was too windy to take the sailboats out so the group on the powerboat had longer to drive around the water.
All activities were finished at 4.30pm and, after showering, and in some cases getting warm, the children got ready for dinner. Everyone had worked up a real appetite and tucked into bolognaise and meatballs with pasta followed by some really yummy puddings.
After dinner the children decided that they would like to watch Captain Underpants and so we had an impromptu film night. After hot chocolate and teeth being cleaned all the children were in bed at 9.00pm and asleep (in most cases) shortly afterwards.
Day Two - Morning
The children were mostly up just before 7.30am this morning and breakfasted on cereal, porridge, scrambled egg and toast at 8 o'clock.
The morning activities started at 9.30am and we were all pleased to see the sun out and no forecast of rain. All the groups moved to another activity and had a great morning before sitting down to lunch which consisted of baguettes with various fillings, salads, soup and yoghurts.
We are just off to the afternoon activities and we will update this post this evening...
The weather did change and those on the boats and the bikes got a little wetter than expected. Mr Benson spent the first part of the afternoon uploading hundreds of photos with more to follow.
We had different instructors this afternoon and there were some amazing personal successes on the bikes with two children learning to cycle.
The high ropes proved to be a real challenge with high winds making balancing even more difficult. This didn't stop one child practically running to the top before casually abseiling back down.
For dinner we feasted on breaded chicken, minute steak and sauted potatoes. After hoovering this up the children had a variety of desserts and are currently in the sports hall with Mr Neill, Mrs Sayell and Mr Simon.
An earlier night is planned...
